Jokkmokk Sweden - Camping & Hiking
The second leg of my Scandi road trip took me to Jokkmokk in Lapland, Sweden.
I stayed at the beautiful Arctic Camp for 3 nights in late Summer.
Check out my videos below of my walk around the town of Jokkmokk itself and a walk along the lake during the evening.
Table of Contents
Jokkmokk Town - Sami Festival
The town of Jokkmokk is small even by Swedish standards. It does have a supermarket and several bars and restaurants, plus a small cinema.
It’s famous for the annual Sami market that takes place at the end of February every year.
The event is a celebration of Sami culture and involves concerts, exhibitions and trade in locally made Sami arts and crafts.
Northern Lights
The picture below is a view across the local lake near Jokkmokk. It was a very clear night as you can see. Unfortunately there were no Northern lights to be seen on this occasion.
Arctic Campsite
The video below is a short walk along the lake at Arctic campsite. I stayed at the campsite for 3 nights. It has good facilities with plenty of local hikes in and around the campsite.
The staff are very helpful and the sauna after a long day hiking is recommended to ease those aching feet and legs.
Scandinavian road trip
Jokkmokk was one of many places I visited during my road trip through Scandinavia. Check out some of the other places I visited below.
